FAQs
1. What will the impact of this development be on traffic?
A transport statement will be undertaken as part of the planning application to address accessibility and sustainable travel. It should be noted that this was the former site of a primary school with considerable traffic movements at peak hours.
2. What will the impact be on schooling?
A full education assessment will be undertaken as part of the planning application. It should also be noted that many of the new households will be from Jedburgh and the surrounding area, so the children and young people in these new homes will more than likely already be attending schools in the town.
3. What impact will there be on GP provision?
GP provision will be reviewed as part of the planning process to ensure the required level of service is provided. It should also be noted that many of the new households will be from Jedburgh and the surrounding area, so will be already registered with a local practice.
4. Will this development impact on the park?
There will no impact to the park and within the subject site we will be maintaining a large central green space.
5. What are the next steps?
A third community consultation event outlining the proposals will be held on 17th August, following two previous events held in January and February, all at Jedburgh Town Hall. At this the local community will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposals. There will also be the opportunity to submit feedback through this website. This feedback will be inputted into our proposals, where appropriate.
6. How can I provide my views on the proposals?
You can provide views on the proposals by attending the consultation event on 17 August between 5pm and 7.30pm at Jedburgh Town Hall. Feedback can also be undertaken via this website through the feedback form provided.
You will also have the opportunity to provide formal comment on the planning application to the Planning Department of Scottish Borders Council once it is submitted.
Consultation
A pre-application consultation event will take place on Thursday 17 August between 5pm and 7.30pm at Jedburgh Town Hall, Abbey Place in Jedburgh.
This follows on from two consultation events already undertaken as part of the pre-application consultation process, which is being carried out prior to the submission of the full planning application.
The first was held Wednesday 18th January 2023 with a second being held on Wednesday 22nd February, also at Jedburgh Town Hall.
Exhibition Boards outlined here cover the third of the consultation events, highlighting our latest proposals for the site, building in the feedback received in the two previous events, where appropriate. At this event, the development team will be available to answer your questions and there will be the opportunity to provide feedback.
Please note, comments made to the prospective applicant do not constitute representations to the Planning Authority. A further opportunity to make representations to Scottish Borders Council will be available following formal submission of the planning application.
